The Basra Operations Command denied targeting and exposing the Iranian Consulate in Basra Governorate (the residential building for the consular staff) to gunfire.
The Command confirmed in a statement: "The situation is normal and safe in the consulate, with the presence of the security forces in charge of securing protection within the sector of responsibility."
Some sites had reported that a residential compound for Iranian consulate employees in the Al-Barad'iya area in the center of Basra was subjected to gunfire, hitting the houses near the compound./ End
