Arab League: Revenge Against The Residents Of Gaza Will Not Achieve The Desired Security

The League of Arab States confirmed that taking revenge on the residents of the Gaza Strip and following a policy of collective punishment is contrary to international law and will not achieve the desired security.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stressed during two meetings, today, Wednesday, with Antonio Tiani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, and Gabrielus Landberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, stressed the importance of providing protection for the Palestinians, and stopping the ongoing war as soon as possible so that things do not expand to something more dangerous and get out of control.

According to a statement by the Arab League, during the two meetings, the focus was on the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip.

Aboul Gheit indicated, during the two meetings held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo, his complete rejection of the killing of civilians, stressing the necessity of addressing the root causes that led to the situation exploding in this dangerous and unfortunate manner, most notably the blockage of the political horizon and the continued elimination of the components of the two-state solution.
