Cairo: Arab leaders began the work of an emergency summit in Cairo today, Tuesday, to discuss developments in the Palestinian issue. On the agenda is the plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip and reject the displacement of its residents following the Israeli war of extermination. The summit is chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and witnesses remarkable participation from various Arab leaders, officials, and dignitaries.
According to Libyan News Agency, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized in his opening speech that “our summit comes in the midst of a very complex regional crisis,” indicating that the region “faces serious challenges that threaten regional security and stability.” El-Sisi urged for “the adoption of our plan that preserves the Palestinian people’s right to rebuild their homeland and remain on their land,” stressing that “the fierce war on the Gaza Strip aimed to destroy the means of life and gave the people of Gaza the choice between annihilation and displacement.”
He further added, “We are working on training Palestinian security cadres who will assume security in the Strip during the next phase.” The Egyptian president also called on all participants to join the Gaza Reconstruction Conference, which is scheduled to be held in Egypt next April, and to direct support and contributions to the fund that will be established for this purpose.
