Today, Wednesday, Minister of Local Government Badr Al-Din Al-Toumi discussed with the mayors of the municipalities of the Western Region a number of key files and issues related to the work and development of municipalities.

The meeting discussed issues related to the development of the local administration system, the forefront of which was the file of financial allocations and the difficulties and problems facing mayors in managing municipal affairs and working to find practical solutions to them.

During the meeting, the issue of settling the procedures for employees of cleaning companies who were transferred to work under municipal management was highlighted, especially with regard to organizing the process of disbursing their monthly salaries.

The meeting also addressed the issue of digital transformation, where strategies for activating local revenues and collecting them electronically were discussed, within the framework of facilitating the collection process and achieving efficiency in managing municipal financial resources, in addition to discussing the Ministry’s directions towards complete digitization in all correspondence and dealings with municipalities and between municipalities among themselves. , which includes developing employees’ capabilities to use electronic systems.

During the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of continuous cooperation and coordination between the Ministry and the municipalities to achieve the desired goals and confront the current challenges with a one-team spirit.

He pointed out that the Ministry is moving steadily towards enabling municipalities to achieve independence in managing their affairs, in line with the government’s vision to enhance decentralization and empower local administration.

Acting Director General of General Security, Brigadier General Elias Baissari, on Wednesday received in his office, United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, with whom he discussed the general situation, especially the recent developments on the Lebanese southern border

Discussions also touched on the means of coordination between General Security and United Nations institutions.
