Al-Sour Addresses Data Falsification Cases in Civil Status Department

Tripoli: Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour has taken a significant step in addressing the ongoing issue of data falsification within the Civil Status Department. During a recent briefing, Al-Sour updated members of the Public Prosecution on the progress made in investigating these cases, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Courts of Appeal.

According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Sour provided detailed statistics concerning the auditing processes for residency, transfer, and registration data across 160 Civil Registry offices. Additionally, he highlighted efforts to verify the eligibility of certain foreigners for Libyan citizenship, underscoring the thorough approach being employed to tackle these issues.

In the meeting, Al-Sour also elaborated on the investigative measures undertaken against those found responsible for falsifying civil registry data. He emphasized the need to address the repercussions of these actions on the rights of the populace, touching upon the economic, social, and political impacts. This comprehensive approach underscores the importance of maintaining integrity within the Civil Registry and ensuring the protection of citizens' rights.
