Tripoli: Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Aguila Saleh, engaged in a meeting with Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, the Secretary-General of the Assembly, to deliberate on the establishment of a permanent headquarters for the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Council in Benghazi. The session took place in Qubba and focused on the outcomes of the recent General Secretariat meeting of the Assembly, along with several other pertinent issues related to the Assembly's operations. According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Head of the House of Representatives' Office, Abdullah Al-Masri Al-Fadhil, Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Ahmed Hashash, and Hussam Al-Nuaimat from the General Secretariat. They addressed various draft bylaws and resolutions that are crucial to the Assembly's framework and functionality. The press statement from the House of Representatives spokesperson revealed that there was a consensus to extend invitations to the heads of parliame nts and councils across Asia and Africa. These invitations aim to encourage the nomination of representatives to the Executive Council, laying the groundwork for its inaugural meeting. Additionally, the discussion also encompassed the procedures and steps necessary for establishing the Assembly's permanent headquarters in Benghazi, underscoring a significant move towards institutionalizing the efforts of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
