Baquba, The Acting Governor of Diyala, Karim Ali Agha, revealed that the amount stolen in the embezzlement of compensation funds amounted to seven billion and / 394 / million dinars.
The governor of Diyala said in a press conference that those involved in the embezzlement are employees of the accounts department, and the process began withdrawing sums from 2019 until they were arrested weeks ago, pointing out that ‘all those involved had arrest warrants issued against them.’
He added that investigations are continuing and we have identified the real criminals and two of the five involved have been arrested. They were authorized to carry out the exchange operations and stole the amounts through the checks without going through the legal channels.’
