Vienna: The Administrative Control Authority (ACA) took part in the 35th session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. This significant event was held in Vienna, Austria, from June 1 to 5.

According to Libyan News Agency, the ACA's participation is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its role in international forums focused on governance, integrity promotion, and anti-corruption initiatives. The authority aims to monitor global developments in crime prevention and the evolution of criminal justice systems, while also gaining insights from advanced practices and expertise in these fields.

The session's agenda covered critical issues such as transnational organized crime, cybercrime, money laundering, human trafficking, environmental crimes, and the illegal trade of cultural artifacts. It also focused on developing mechanisms to support international cooperation and establish channels for exchanging information and expertise among nations.

Participants at the session discussed several draft resolutions aimed at strengthening crime prevention and reducing recurrence. They also reviewed the progress made on the outcomes of the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and laid the groundwork for the 15th Congress, which is set to take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, next September.

During the opening session, speakers highlighted the need for enhanced coordination and cooperation among countries to tackle emerging security challenges. They stressed the development of criminal justice systems to effectively combat modern crime forms, particularly organized crime, corruption, cybercrime, and terrorism, in light of the growing threats these issues pose to global security, stability, and sustainable development.
