The World Food Programme (WFP) called for urgent funding of at least $6.5 million, to help 100.000 people affected by floods and torrents that swept eastern Libya.

The WFP said in a report that it has provided 131 tons of food supplies to 21.500 affected people in 11 disaster areas in eastern Libya so far.

It affirmed the continuation of providing urgent food aid through partners, including the Libyan Relief and Humanitarian Aid Agency.

The WFP highlighted that the situation is still fragile in northeastern Libya, following the massive floods and torrents that struck several cities on September 10.
