London – Morocco’s experience in the field of vocational training, particularly through the Cities of Trades and Skills (CMCs), was highlighted, Monday in London, by the Minister for Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri.
The official, who took part in the World Education Forum (EWF), the largest annual gathering of education and skills ministers, reviewed the reforms carried out by Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in its education and academic systems, while presenting the Kingdom’s roadmap for vocational training.
Among the flagship projects presented by Mr. Sekkouri at this event, which runs until May 23, are the CMCs. This new generation of vocational training establishments has enabled Morocco to benefit from recruitment rates exceeding 80%, he pointed out.
“This proves that the Kingdom has a system that works, thanks to the Royal Will, the government’s commitment, and the practical roll-out of this program, which includes the private sector,”
the minister stated.
The CMCs cover several categories, including trades that are important for Morocco, such as the automotive industry, including electric cars and batteries, aeronautics and electronics, as well as emerging trades with a growing demand for manpower, not only in Morocco but worldwide, such as healthcare, he explained.
This is why the MCCs will witness the emergence of more and more villages oriented towards care and health sectors, tourism and agriculture, while taking into account the specific characteristics of each region,” the official said.
This year’s World Education Forum is taking place under the theme “Encouraging AI understanding, building human relationships and resilience, and accelerating climate action.” The event brings together decision-makers, experts, and professionals. It explores education from the early years to university and professional learning.
