Responding to media reports alleging that UNIFIL has recently informed the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), citing the Israelis, that the entire city of Nabattieh has become a target for Israel, UNIFIL Spokesperson Andrea Tenenti said, ‘I saw the reports and honestly I am not aware of any specific conversation between LAF and UNIFIL in relation to what has been reported.’
‘We often meet with our strategic partners (LAF) to discuss several issues related to security and safety along the Blue Line and these conversations are confidential,’ Tenenti said.
‘The Mission is doing its utmost to de-escalate tensions and prevent dangerous misunderstandings between the parties (LAF and the Israeli Army) as well as continuing our daily activities along the Blue Line to de-escalate tensions,’ the UNIFIL spokesperson added.
