Tripoli: The UN mission in Libya has called on the country's leaders to set aside their differences to foster a future of peace and stability. The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Hanna Tetteh, congratulated the Libyan people on the 74th anniversary of Libya's independence.
According to Libyan News Agency, Tetteh, in a statement on behalf of the mission, praised the resilience and determination of the Libyan people amid ongoing challenges. She expressed respect for their persistent efforts to achieve peace, stability, and a future built on social cohesion, equality, inclusive development, and the rule of law.
The mission reiterated its appeal to Libya's leaders and institutions to bridge political and regional divides to forge a shared national vision leading to peace and prosperity. It encouraged all parties to engage sincerely and take concrete steps to unify and strengthen state institutions, support stability, and advance necessary economic reforms.
