Tripoli: The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Hannah Tetteh, has declared the United Nations’ dedication to engaging Libyan citizens throughout the political process. This announcement comes as part of the UN’s efforts to support the Libyan people’s aspirations for stable institutions and fair elections.

According to Libyan News Agency, Hannah Tetteh outlined a political roadmap, emphasizing the importance of involving Libyans as active participants rather than mere onlookers. In a briefing to the Security Council, Tetteh articulated the Libyan public’s desire for a stable, democratically elected government. She stated that the UN’s roadmap is designed to make these aspirations attainable through a transparent and inclusive political process.

Tetteh highlighted that the new approach focuses on involving Libyan leaders and citizens through ongoing dialogue and consultations, both in-person and online. She affirmed the UN mission’s commitment to transparency and the importance of considering all Libyan voices in the process. Tetteh assured citizens of the UN’s dedication to outlining their plans, acknowledging potential challenges, and strategizing solutions.

The envoy stressed that these initiatives are directed towards organizing inclusive national elections, aligning with Libyans’ goals of establishing a stable state founded on popular will and comprehensive participation.
