Mizda: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government for Municipal Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Mustafa Ahmed Salem, held an expanded meeting with the Union of Municipalities of the Western Mountains. The meeting included participants from the Great Man-Made River Project Implementation and Management Authority, the head and members of the Authority’s Administrative Committee, and various directors from the Housing and Utilities Authority and multiple water systems.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting took place at the Mizda Municipality headquarters and focused on the requirements for supplying the Western Mountains municipalities with water from the Great Man-Made River systems. Specifically, the discussion revolved around the water supply along the Abu Zayan-Rahibat route and the resumption of work on the Ghadames System, intended to serve areas from Nalut to Al-Haraba and the municipalities of Batin Al-Jabal.
During the meeting, the Great Man-Made River Authority provided a visual presentation detailing the operational status of the Abu Zayan-Rahibat project and the Ghadames-Zuwara-Zawiya system. The presentation highlighted existing challenges and proposed practical solutions to ensure stable water supplies. It also stressed the need for coordination between the Great Man-Made River Authority and relevant governmental and local authorities to clarify responsibilities and unify efforts to meet the population’s needs sustainably.
