Istanbul, The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of 15 sites belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party ( PKK) in Hakurk region in northern Iraq with air strikes.
The Turkish Defense Ministry stated in a statement tonight that warplanes launched air strikes this evening targeting sites, fortifications and shelters of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in Hakurk region in northern Iraq to neutralize the party’s elements and ensure the security of the country’s borders, in line with the right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
It explained in its statement that the targets that were targeted tonight by air strikes, including caves, hideouts, shelters, and warehouses, were likely to contain leaders of the PKK at the time of the bombing.
It affirmed the determination of the Turkish Armed Forces to continue the war on terrorism until the last of its elements are neutralized, with the aim of preserving the security of the country and the safety of its people.
In its statement, the Turkish Defense Ministry stressed that all measures should be taken to prevent harm to any civilian or member of friendly forces, or to historical and cultural assets and the environment during the operation.
