Tripoli: The State Council presidential election is heading to a second round between Mohamed Takala and Belkacem Qazit. In the initial voting round, Takala received 62 votes, while Qazit garnered 34 votes, resulting in the need for a runoff as no candidate secured an outright majority.
According to Libyan News Agency, the first round of voting also saw Salah Metou receive 25 votes, Abdulrahman Al-Suwaihli obtain 12 votes, and Mustafa Al-Turki with 4 votes. The competition narrows down to Takala and Qazit as they prepare for the decisive second round to determine the head of the High Council of State.
