Baghdad: The Secretary-General of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Sheikh Qais Khazali, hosted a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Baghdad, Akira Endo.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the dialogue centered on a range of mutual interests. Sheikh al-Khazali emphasized that “The Popular Mobilization Law is an internal Iraqi affair that does not accept foreign interference,” underscoring the importance of respecting Iraq’s sovereignty and the decisions made by its constitutional institutions.
The discussion also touched on the upcoming elections in Iraq. Al-Khazali expressed satisfaction with the progress of the electoral process and the initiatives implemented to boost citizens’ confidence in it.
Additionally, the meeting explored potential avenues for economic cooperation between Iraq and Japan. The roles of Japanese companies in supporting investment and development projects were highlighted as crucial to fostering mutual benefits for both nations.
