Tripoli- During their meeting with MP Moussa Al-Koni, mayors of the Greater Tripoli Municipalities announced today, Tuesday, that they welcome the work of the governorate system, and the establishment of the Tripoli governorate, and considered that decentralization will provide the most effective solution for the country’s exit from its current crisis, with the presence of sovereign institutions within it.

They emphasized that the decentralization system guarantees the rights of all regions and components of the Libyan people, through the governorates, by handing over their budgets to manage their projects, to bring services closer to citizens in their regions.

They made it clear during the meeting, which was held at the Tripoli Municipal Office, that the announcement of the Tripoli governorate is a model for a national project, which will have a significant impact on its contribution to the stability of Libya by applying it in all regions of Libya.

They appealed to the mayors of the municipalities of Libya to follow the example of Tripoli by returning to work the governorate system due to its importance, and what it will achieve in terms of stability and spatial development through the budget that will be allocated to each governorate to carry out the tasks entrusted to it without referring to the presidency of the government, which will devote itself to accomplishing the general policy of the state.

In turn, the representative praised the level of awareness, intellectual maturity, and foresight of the deans, which is in the interest of their municipalities by providing the capabilities that qualify them to carry out their tasks in the service of citizens in many fields, and to allow the central government to perform its role in following up the affairs of the state.

He stressed that his vision of returning to work in the governorate system is the most effective during this stage for his contribution to building the local administration on a sound and reliable basis in achieving stability and overcoming the conflicts over the capital, which has suffered over the past decade from its repercussions, which will pave the way for building a state of exemplary institutions.

The deputy announced that he will continue to hold dialogue sessions with the heads and members of municipal councils in the regions, to present his vision to introduce the governorate system and its terms of reference, to establish model governorates in accordance with the standards in force in all countries of the world.
