Presidential Council holds audience with head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL)

Tripoli-President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Mnefi and the Vice President Abdullah Al-Lafi, received on Sunday the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Abdoulaye Bathily, who officially began his duties from the capital Tripoli.

At the beginning of the interview, Al Mnefi and Al Lafi welcomed the new UN envoy wishing him success in his tasks, praising UN efforts in support of the political process, and stressing that there is a more urgent need than ever to reach an urgent political solution to the Libyan crisis. According to the Council’s Communication Office Bathily conveyed the greetings of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to the President of the Presidential Council and the two Vice-Presidents of the Council, praising the great role played by the Presidency in order to achieve stability and peace, highlighting the importance of the solution to be achieved through Libyans themselves, expressing his keenness to find a solution to the Libyan crisis.
