Tripoli: The Ministry of Health has announced the upcoming launch of a sophisticated national electronic system designed to manage the dispensation and tracking of insulin medications. The system will be directly connected to citizens’ national ID numbers. This initiative aligns with the directives of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, and is overseen by the Undersecretary General and Acting Minister of Health.
According to Libyan News Agency, the primary objective of the new system is to eliminate treatment duplication and prevent any leaks in the distribution of insulin medications, thereby ensuring that the medications reach the patients who are genuinely in need. A statement from the Ministry on its official page highlights that the system will be operated within health facilities and involve doctors, pharmacists, and data entry clerks. Medications will be dispensed only after a specialist physician conducts a medical examination and determines the appropriate do
sage.
The Pharmacy Department at the Ministry of Health will oversee the entire dispensing mechanism, assessing needs and monitoring the medication recycling processes. This advancement is intended to improve the efficiency of managing the national stockpile and to secure the sustainability of essential drug supplies for diabetes patients.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader set of regulatory and reform measures aimed at enhancing transparency and improving the pharmaceutical and treatment services offered to citizens nationwide.
