Libyan Officials Discuss Boosting Water Sector Presence on Global Stage

New York:GNU Minister of Water Resources, Hosni Oweidan, met with Taher El-Sonni, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Libya to the UN, to discuss strategies for enhancing the representation and prioritization of Libyan water issues in international forums.

According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions took place in New York and focused on leveraging international cooperation channels to support Libya's water sector. The meeting emphasized the importance of coordination between the Ministry of Water Resources and Libya's Mission to the UN to address water security and sustainable development challenges in Libya.

The officials highlighted the need to engage more actively with international organizations, agencies, and development partners. They explored opportunities for international cooperation and partnerships that could support the sector's priorities while addressing the challenges and needs it faces.

Both parties agreed on the necessity of integrating efforts between national institutions and Libya's UN Mission to strengthen Libya's role in international water and sustainable development issues. This approach aims to create broader opportunities for collaboration with relevant global institutions and organizations.

The meeting is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance international cooperation in water management and establish partnerships that can contribute to advancing water security and sustainable development in Libya.
