Tripoli: The Minister of Housing and Construction, Abubakr Awidat, engaged in discussions with officials from the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) to explore the potential for collaborative infrastructure projects in Libya. The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation in public works and the implementation of several infrastructure projects.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting in Tripoli also delved into the prospects for joint investment and the exchange of technical expertise between the Ministry of Housing and Construction and CSCEC. The dialogue aimed at fostering a partnership that could enhance Libya’s infrastructure through shared knowledge and resources.
Both parties agreed to establish a joint committee tasked with reviewing previously contracted projects that have stalled over the years. This committee will operate for two weeks and subsequently provide a comprehensive report to Minister Awidat. The assessment will cover the readiness of CSCEC to engage in new projects and invest in the construction of new housing units, aligning with the National Housing Program initiated by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah’s Government of National Unity.
The meeting included key figures such as Amin Issa Al-Bakoush from the High Committee for Supervising Libyan-Chinese Cooperation, Rajab Al-Dali, Director of the Tripoli City Development Authority, and Abdul Latif Al-Khazmi, Director of the Projects Department at the Ministry.
