Cairo: The Libyan Embassy in Cairo has initiated discussions to tackle the financial hurdles encountered by Libyan students studying in Egypt. The Libyan Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdul Mutalib Thabet, met with the President of the Union of Libyan Students Studying in Egypt to focus on the financial difficulties affecting these students.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting took place at the embassy headquarters in Cairo. It was attended by the advisor at the Libyan delegation, Ramadan Al-Barghouthi, and the financial controller at the embassy, Fathi Jumaa. The discussions centered around addressing the obstacles to ensure the academic and living stability of Libyan students.

One of the critical issues reviewed during the meeting was the postponement of the deduction of financial advances granted to students during the first quarter of 2025. This measure aims to ease the financial burden on the students and expedite the disbursement of tuition fees for those whose dissertation defense dates have been finalized.

The participants emphasized the urgent need to settle dues for the 2023/2024 academic year to prevent the accumulation of arrears, which could adversely affect the students’ educational progress. This was highlighted in a post shared by the Libyan Embassy in Cairo on its official Facebook page.

Ambassador Thabet underscored the significance of maintaining direct communication with scholarship students. He emphasized the necessity of scheduling a meeting with Libyan students in Egypt to enhance communication channels and address their concerns effectively.

This initiative is part of the Libyan Embassy in Cairo’s ongoing commitment to support Libyan students, ensure favorable conditions for their academic success, and overcome challenges during their scholarship period.
