Libya and Turkey Discuss Expanding Partnership and Investment in the Oil and Gas Sectors


Libya: Libyan Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdul Sadiq met with Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the oil, gas, and energy sectors. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second Natural Resources Summit in Istanbul in 2026.



According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions focused on expanding the partnership between Libya and Turkey, strengthening investment opportunities and cooperation with international energy companies, and supporting participation in regional energy projects.



The Oil and Gas Minister outlined the sector’s objectives for the coming period, primarily increasing production rates, expanding gas projects, and developing infrastructure, including the Green-stream pipeline for exporting gas to European markets.



Both sides emphasized the importance of developing joint strategic projects in various energy sectors, contributing to energy security and achieving sustainable development at both the regional and international levels.
