Geneva: The Joint Military Commission (5+5) has reaffirmed its dedication to fully implementing the ceasefire and backing the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in its efforts to enhance the political process. This includes facilitating general elections and establishing unified state institutions that align with the aspirations of the Libyan people.

According to Libyan News Agency, this commitment was expressed during a workshop organized by UNSMIL and the Libya Programme at the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF). The event brought together the Joint Military Commission (5+5) and heads of the Sub-Committee on Security Arrangements to assess progress in enforcing the ceasefire agreement. Discussions focused on the withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters, and foreign forces, as well as setting priorities for sustaining peace and fully executing the agreement’s terms.

The Mission highlighted that DCAF shared international experiences and lessons learned from other countries’ ceasefire processes during the workshop, aiming to provide valuable insights to support Libya’s ongoing efforts.
