Israeli Channel 12 said that the waves washed away part of the American floating pier off Gaza to the shores of the city of Ashdod, noting that the Israeli Navy returned it and attached it again, according to “Russia Today.”

Last week, the American naval pier was opened, which provides a new route for the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Strip. US officials said the dock would initially handle 90 trucks per day, but that number could reach 150.

To maintain the neutrality of the UN at the pier, there is no contact between the small number of UN staff at the site and the Israeli army, which provides security and logistical support.

Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip warn that establishing the water dock will give Israel “the opportunity to extend the war.”
