Interior Ministry Highlights National Priority of Combating Extremism and Terrorism

Tripoli: The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity has declared that combating extremism and terrorism is a national priority and a shared responsibility. This initiative demands the combined efforts of security, intellectual, and societal sectors.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry's statement was released today, Sunday, in recognition of the Arab Week for Awareness of the Dangers of Extremism and Terrorism, observed annually from January 4 to 10. The Ministry emphasized its dedication to implementing strategies aimed at enhancing security and stability, countering all forms of extremist ideology through preventive measures and awareness campaigns, reinforcing values of moderation and tolerance, and fostering a culture of dialogue while rejecting violence and hatred.

The Ministry of Interior highlighted that societal awareness is the first line of defense against extremism and terrorism. It underscored that security is a collective responsibility, reliant on the cooperation and integration of all stakeholders. The Ministry noted the crucial role of families, educational and media institutions, and civil society organizations in safeguarding children and youth from intellectual deviation, and in building societal awareness that strengthens the community and maintains its security and stability.
