Tripoli: The House of Representatives has declared the situation in the Gaza Strip a humanitarian catastrophe that necessitates immediate and decisive action from the international community.
According to Libyan News Agency, the House of Representatives issued a statement on Thursday highlighting the severe famine and humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza as a crime and a violation of international and humanitarian norms. The statement emphasized that the systematic denial of essential resources such as food, medicine, and humanitarian aid, along with the deprivation of basic rights for millions of civilians, amounts to a crime against humanity. The House urged the international community to act without resorting to double standards or remaining silent.
The statement called upon international bodies, particularly the Security Council and the United Nations, to enforce an immediate cessation of hostilities and take steps to lift the blockade on Gaza to facilitate unrestricted humanitarian aid. Additionally, the House appealed to Arab, Islamic, and international parliaments to adopt stronger positions that reflect the severity of the crisis faced by the unarmed population. It also urged global citizens to take swift action to aid the victims and highlight the injustices and international inaction surrounding the situation.
