Tripoli: The High Council of State has called on the House of Representatives to expedite the nomination process for sovereign positions, emphasizing the need for action within two weeks. This urgent request is particularly focused on the agreement concerning the High National Elections Commission.

According to Libyan News Agency, the call to action emerged from a plenary session held by the Council on Monday morning at its headquarters in Tripoli. The session was presided over by Council President Mohammed Takala, as indicated in a statement released by the Council’s media office on its official page.

The Council highlighted the importance for all sovereign and executive bodies and institutions to disregard the decisions made by the newly established Constitutional Court, citing its lack of legal foundation. The Council urged these entities not to assign any legal or practical consequences to the court’s outcomes, labeling it an illegitimate entity.

During the session, the Council reviewed several agenda items, including the work of the Committee on Sovereign Positions and the follow-up on the implementation of the Committee’s agreement regarding the High National Elections Commission. The discussion also covered the repercussions of establishing the Constitutional Court without legal basis and the implications of its rulings, alongside other emerging matters.
