Health Minister Lays Foundation Stone for Dialysis Unit in Sur

The foundation stone for the project of a Dialysis Unit in Sur Hospital, funded by the Al Jisr Foundation, was laid during a ceremony held today under the patronage of Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.

The operation of the Unit is expected to start in 2025, and the actual operation will be in three different phases. The third and final phase will have a capacity of 30 beds in the dialysis unit. In addition, a fully equipped intensive care department with basic medical supplies, including 22 beds for adults and 8 beds for the pediatric intensive care unit, will be established.

On this occasion, the Minister of Health said that establishing this Unit supports the efforts of the Ministry to provide the best accessible treatment services all Oman’s governorates. He added that providing this service contributes to developing the treatment services provided to dialysis patients.

He stressed the role played by the Ministry of Health in operating all services for diagnosing and treating kidney diseases and dialysis by equipping them with qualified medical staff according to the latest treatment methods.

He added that this Unit would serve dialysis patients of the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah and reduces the burden on other similar centers providing the service.

The Minister of Health underscored the importance of strengthening the partnership between the government and private sectors as corporate social responsibility considered a supporter of the development of health services.

In this regard, Saud bin Amer Al Nadhiri, Director General of Health Services of South A’Sharqiyah, said that the Ministry of Health is actively seeking to improve health services to respond to the people’s needs and provide health services through developing sustainable and decentralized institutional structures and providing healthy and supportive work environment.

Present at the ceremony were the Governor of South A’Sharqiyah, members of the Shura Council and Wali of Sur.
