A Palestinian young man was injured by Israeli gunfire today as Israeli occupation forces attacked Palestinians demonstrating east of Gaza City on the occasion of the Palestinian Land Day, according to local sources. WAFA correspondent said Israeli occupation soldiers stationed along the border fence east of Gaza fired live shots and teargas canisters to disperse Palestinians commemorating the occasion, injuring a young man in the chest. He was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. The Palestinian Land Day refers to the events of March 1976 in which six Palestinian citizens were killed by Israeli forces while demonstrating against the seizure of their land. On March 30, 1976, thousands of Palestinians in the northern Galilee region demonstrated against the seizure by Israel of large tracts of Arab land, prompting Israeli troops to use lethal force, killing six Palestinians. For the last 47 years, Palestinians have been commemorating the deadly incident by holding marches in the occupied West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Arab villages in Israel.
