Tripoli: The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya (SRSG) of the United Nations, Hanna Tetteh, accompanied by her Deputy for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, engaged with members of the Libyan Parties Association at the mission’s headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting, which occurred on Sunday, focused on briefing the political parties about recent developments in the Dialogue Committee, which is set to conclude its work by the end of this month.
According to Libyan News Agency, the envoy listened to the recommendations and observations of the parties concerning the next phase of the dialogue. Hamri Al-Shawish, head of the Nabd Al-Watan Party and a participant in the meeting, reported that discussions primarily centered on the mission’s ideas and plans aimed at resolving the political impasse. Key topics included the mission’s initiative, the work of the Advisory Committee, and the perspectives and ideas of the political parties.
The party’s communication highlighted the emphasis on supporting the party experience in Libya. This support is seen as crucial in establishing a legal political framework that enables Libyan citizens to play an influential role in their country’s affairs. The framework aims to foster a peaceful political process for the transfer of power, ultimately bringing Libya to a stable and safe state, similar to countries with successful democratic systems of government.
