Munich, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warned, Friday, that the world still faces three serious threats.

He said during the Munich Security Conference: Our world faces existential challenges, but the global community has become more fragmented and divided than at any time during the past 75 years. Even the Cold War era was in some ways less dangerous.

Guterres added, “The threat of nuclear war was real.” That is why the United States and the Soviet Union agreed on arms reduction and control and other mechanisms to prevent mutually assured destruction”.

He added; in our multipolar world, we are still facing a nuclear threat, explaining that the world is dealing with two other threats: the climate crisis, and out-of-control artificial intelligence.

Guterres stressed that humanity has not yet been able to take effective steps to respond to these threats.
