Foreign Ministry Calls On Japan To Open Its Consulate In Basra

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Muhammad Hussein Bahr Al-Uloum, met the Japanese Ambassador to Baghdad, Futoshi Matsumoto.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, especially in the economic field and facilitating the work of Japanese companies in Iraq, in addition to continuing work to hold the eighth round of high-level political dialogue between the two countries.

The Undersecretary praised Japan’s positions in support of Iraq and its contribution to aid at all levels, calling on the Japanese government to open its consulate in Basra Governorate.
