Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has underscored the significance of the Egypt-Libya-Chad corridor as a vital project for enhancing African economic integration. He emphasized that economic integration and development are integral to Egypt's policy towards Africa, highlighting the corridor's role in bolstering continental connectivity and fostering economic cooperation among North and Central African countries. According to Libyan News Agency, Abdel-Aty's statements were made during a meeting with representatives of African Union organizations and offices accredited in Cairo. He expressed Egypt's deep appreciation for its collaboration with the African Union and various institutions, reaffirming Cairo's dedication to supporting the Union's efforts in promoting peace, security, and sustainable development across the continent. Abdel-Aty noted Egypt's commitment to enhancing joint African action as one of the founding members of the African Union. He pointed out that initiatives like the Egypt- Libya-Chad corridor, the Cairo-Cape Town corridor, and the project connecting Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean Sea are pivotal for achieving regional integration. These projects support the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area and contribute to implementing the African Union's Agenda 2063. The Minister reiterated Egypt's adherence to the African Union's Constitutive Act principles, including respect for sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and backing African solutions to African challenges. These principles are fundamental to Egyptian foreign policy. Abdel-Aty also addressed the political, security, and developmental challenges facing Africa, emphasizing the role of African Union organizations and offices in preventing conflicts, resolving crises peacefully, and promoting development. He highlighted cooperation with the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peace keeping, and Peacebuilding. Moreover, the Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting African Union offices and organizations operating within its borders. He noted that many have moved to the New Administrative Capital, which will enhance their operations and reflects Egypt's crucial role in supporting joint African efforts.
