Egyptian Foreign Minister and U.S. Advisor Discuss Libya’s Political Developments

Tripoli: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call yesterday with U.S. President's Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos to discuss political and security developments in Libya. According to Libyan News Agency, the phone call addressed ways to create the necessary conditions for making progress in Libya's political process and ending the state of division. Minister Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt's efforts are guided by the priority of preserving Libya's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the unity of its national institutions. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the political process remains exclusively Libyan-led, noting that holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously represents a key step toward restoring stability in the country. The Egyptian Minister also emphasized the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts in support of the political process. He noted that such coordination would help Libyans reach a s ustainable settlement that reflects their will and preserves the unity of the state and its institutions.
