Egypt condemned storming of Aqsa Mosque early Thursday by Israeli government officials and hundreds of extremists.

Moreover, the Israeli authorities banned Muslims worshippers from accessing the holy shrine.

In a statement on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry stressed that consecutive storming of Al Aqsa Mosque and attempts to divide it will not change its legal and historical position as an Islamic worshipping place.

The ministry called on Israel to immediately halt such provocative and escalating actions that would ignite the situation in the occupied territories.

It warned against the dangerous repercussions of such irresponsible practices on regional security and stability.
