Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, have emphasized the need to intensify joint coordination on the Libyan issue, advocating for a political resolution led and owned by Libyans. The ministers stressed the importance of ensuring Libya's unity, sovereignty, and stability while opposing any foreign interference that could impede reaching a sustainable settlement.

According to Libyan News Agency, the announcement followed a meeting on Thursday in Cairo, where the ministers discussed Libya's developments, bilateral relations, and regional issues of mutual interest. They highlighted the significance of the Neighboring Countries Mechanism as a crucial platform for consultation and coordination in addressing the Libyan crisis. Ensuring appropriate conditions for simultaneous elections was also underscored, given Libya's strategic importance as a neighbor to both Egypt and Algeria.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesperson, Tamim Khallaf, shared that the discussions included enhancing bilateral relations between Cairo and Algiers. Minister Abdel-Aty praised the historical ties and strategic nature of relations between the two countries, noting the ongoing development in political coordination and consultation.

Abdel-Aty reiterated Egypt's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Algeria across all levels to support a unified vision on bilateral, regional, and international issues of shared interest.
