ECOWAS _The date for military intervention in Niger has been set

The Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the “ECOWAS” group, Abdel Fattah Musa, announced at a press conference in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, that “a date has been set for military intervention in Niger, but without announcing it.”

“Military intervention is not our preferred option, but we are forced to do so because of the intransigence of the military council in Niger,” Moussa said, following the meeting of the group’s defense ministers, which began last Thursday in the Ghanaian capital, Accra. trying to end it.”

Moussa said, “The exact date for the military intervention in Niger has been set, but we will not announce it, indicating that the forces of the group countries are ready to enter Niger at any time given the order,” adding that “the countries of the group agreed on all that is required for any military intervention.”

He also indicated that “any intervention will be short-term, and aims to restore constitutional order.”

“The ECOWAS group will not close the door to diplomacy to resolve the Niger crisis, nor will it engage in fruitless dialogue with the military council in Niamey,” he said.

Moussa announced, earlier, that the “ECOWAS” group had legitimate reasons to interfere in the affairs of Niger, where a coup d’état took place, without the approval of the UN Security Council.
