Dutch Ambassador Pledges Continued Support for Justice in Tarhuna

Tarhuna: ‘We will continue to work with Libyan and international institutions to ensure justice for the victims of Tarhuna,’ Dutch Ambassador says. The Netherlands has reiterated its commitment to continued coordination with relevant Libyan authorities to ensure the rights of affected families in Tarhuna and to provide all forms of support for the justice and reconciliation process.

According to Libyan News Agency, this statement came during an official visit by the Dutch Ambassador to Libya to Tarhuna, where he met with a number of victims’ families in the presence of the Mayor of Tarhuna. During this meeting, he listened to the families’ demands and emphasized that his country stands with them and supports the investigation and accountability efforts.

During the meeting, the ambassador stressed the importance of providing justice for the victims and following up on pending cases. He highlighted that the Netherlands continues to work with local institutions and relevant international bodies to ensure that perpetrators do not escape punishment and to promote human rights within Libyan society.

For his part, the Mayor of Tarhuna affirmed that the visit represents an important step in strengthening the judicial process. He emphasized the municipality’s readiness to fully cooperate with the Dutch side and all relevant institutions to facilitate investigations and provide everything necessary to ensure justice for the victims and the realization of their rights.
