Tripoli, The Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Libya, Stephanie Williams, expressed her admiration for the national work carried out by the National Oil Corporation and its companies to maintain and sustain production rates to secure the incomes and financial resources of the Libyan state.

This came during a meeting between her and the accompanying delegation with the head of the corporation, “Mustafa Sanalla,” at the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation in the capital, Tripoli.

Stephanie stressed the need to preserve the integrity and independence of the National Oil Corporation and to keep it away from any interactions that might hinder its national and technical work to secure the livelihood of the Libyan people, as it is the almost only source of income, which is “oil”, which represents 97% of the Libyan state’s revenues.

She also called during the meeting for the necessity of supporting this institution and standing by it to preserve the unity and independence of “Libya” and to bring it to safety.

For his part, Williams was briefed , by Sanalla, on the conditions and challenges facing the Libyan oil sector, most notably the accumulation of debts and the scarcity of financial resources needed by the National Oil Corporation to operate the sector, fulfill contractual obligations towards partners, and carry out maintenance work for the dilapidated infrastructure.
