Baghdad: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Planning Affairs, Hisham Al-Alawi, recently chaired a meeting aimed at discussing mechanisms to enhance institutional work within the Ministry. The gathering took place at the Ministry’s headquarters and included key figures from the Planning and Follow-up Department, the Political Planning, Communications and Information Technology Departments, the Consulate, and the Institute of Foreign Service.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry announced in a press release that the meeting focused on a proposed program to monitor the implementation of the Ministry’s government program and its annual plans both domestically and internationally. The program intends to employ advanced mechanisms to boost institutional efficiency.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Alawi underscored the significance of developing planning and follow-up mechanisms that align with the government’s strategy to improve institutional performance. He stressed the importance of leveraging modern technologies to ensure precise and transparent monitoring of the government program’s implementation, thereby providing decision-making centers within the Ministry with accurate results.
The Planning and Follow-up Department presented an overview of the benefits and operational mechanisms of the proposed program, which was followed by discussions and feedback aimed at enhancing monitoring and evaluation tools.
Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Minister emphasized the need to bolster coordination among the relevant departments and expedite the program’s preparation. Collaboration with the Communications and Information Technology Department was highlighted to ensure the program’s readiness by the end of this year. The program is slated for adoption in early 2026 by the Ministry’s departments and Iraq’s diplomatic missions abroad, aiming to serve as a practical tool in supporting the Ministry’s objectives under the upcoming government program.
