Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed that the presence of major oil companies in Iraq reflects the government’s interest in the energy sector and its efforts to develop it. A statement by his media office noted that Al-Sudani received the Chairman of the American company Halliburton, Shannon Slocum, and his delegation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani emphasized the significance of involving major oil companies in Iraq as part of the government’s strategy to enhance the energy sector. He highlighted the government’s vision to develop the oil and gas industries using modern international standards and advanced technologies. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of expanding the use of associated gas and increasing the production of petroleum derivatives.
Al-Sudani expressed the need to broaden cooperation with Halliburton due to its expertise in extraction and refining, along with its modern global technologies. He reiterated his support for Halliburton’s initiatives in developing the Nahr Bin Omar and Sinbad fields in Basra Governorate.
Shannon Slocum, representing Halliburton, acknowledged the positive developments in Iraq and the country’s openness to international industrial companies. He confirmed Halliburton’s commitment to introducing the latest technological advancements in oil and gas fields, following the finalization of the contract model. Slocum also mentioned the company’s dedication to employing modern administrative and technical methods and to enhancing the skills of Iraqi workers involved in its projects.
