Tripoli: The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, convened with local leaders from 30 municipalities alongside Abdulshafi Al-Juwaifi, the Minister of Local Government, to assess the conditions within local communities and evaluate the services provided to citizens. The meeting aimed to enhance the efficiency of local performance.
According to Libyan News Agency, the gathering was also attended by Mustafa Al-Manea, Head of the Executive Team for Presidential Initiatives and Strategic Projects. The discussions centered on the current level of services offered by local communities, the mechanisms for their development, and the role of mukhtars in resolving daily issues. The leaders also examined the main challenges faced in executing their responsibilities and strategized on overcoming these obstacles to improve service quality for citizens.
The local leaders expressed appreciation for the Government of National Unity's support in advancing local governance and enhancing service levels. They highlighted the necessity of continuing to empower local leaders with the authority required to perform their service and organizational roles effectively, as reported by the government's media office.
Prime Minister Dabaiba instructed the Ministry of Local Government and other relevant bodies to ensure follow-up on the meeting's resolutions. He emphasized the need for administrative and technical support to local leaders and improved coordination with municipalities to ensure prompt responses to citizens' needs and better local service delivery.
According to the media office, leaders from municipalities including Traghen, Tahala, Brak al-Shati, Idri al-Shati, al-Qardah al-Shati, Ghat, al-Shuwayrif, Sabratha, al-Zawiya al-Wusta, al-Zawiya al-Markaz, Ras al-Hilal, al-Rahibat, al-Gharifa, Tarhuna, al-Zahra, al-Bayda, al-Militaniya, Tobruk, Benghazi, Umm al-Razm, Bani Walid, Surman, Wadi al-Bawanis, al-Shaqiqa, Zliten, Souq al-Jum'a, Tripoli al-Markaz, Misrata, and Hay al-Andalus participated in the meeting.
