Dabaiba Discusses Central Bank’s Report with UN Envoy, Commits to Economic Strengthening

Tripoli: Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, held discussions with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, regarding the latest report issued by the Central Bank of Libya (CBL).

According to Libyan News Agency, the government’s media office reported that both parties highlighted the importance of maintaining transparency and openness in financial reporting. This approach is crucial for bolstering citizen confidence in public institutions and ensuring effective oversight of spending. Furthermore, they recognized the need for joint efforts to foster constructive cooperation between the government and the UN mission. This collaboration aims to support political and economic processes, paving the way for elections in a stable and secure environment.

The media office also noted that the Prime Minister emphasized the negative impact of deviations in parallel spending outside official frameworks on the economy. He called for unified efforts to regulate public spending within approved legal and oversight frameworks.

During the meeting, the envoy provided a comprehensive presentation on the outcomes of her recent local and international tours. These tours focused on supporting initiatives to consolidate political and security stability in Libya and promote consensus among stakeholders.
