Tripoli: Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, emphasized that the state’s vision is clear and explicit, focusing on the dismantling of all armed formations outside the army and police institutions. This step is considered essential for establishing a stable civil state governed exclusively by legitimate institutions. This declaration was made during his reception of several European ambassadors accredited to Libya, including those from the European Union, Italy, the United Kingdom, Greece, and the French Deputy Ambassador.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the supportive stances of these countries concerning investigations by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. He highlighted that cooperation with international justice is part of the government’s commitment to combating impunity and ensuring accountability for serious crimes committed against citizens.
The meeting also addressed serious violations by some armed formations, such as murder, kidnapping, torture, and extortion, emphasizing the necessity of holding those responsible accountable, as stated by the government’s media office. The media office further reported that the meeting highlighted the dangerous role played by some groups in supporting organized crime networks, particularly human trafficking and illegal immigration. The Prime Minister underscored the connection between these activities and certain armed groups, necessitating a stronger international stance to support the government’s efforts to combat them.
Discussions during the meeting also included issues of joint cooperation between Libya and the European Union, stressing the importance of resuming programs that support stability, institutional development, and efforts against irregular migration.
