Tripoli: The Commodity Price Monitoring Committee, part of the Law Enforcement Department under the General Directorate of Security Operations, conducted an inspection tour in the central region, resulting in the closure of a non-compliant company. This tour was part of the committee's responsibilities as directed by the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, focusing on monitoring commodity prices and addressing any violations.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Law Enforcement Department announced through a social media post on Monday evening that the inspection aimed to ensure compliance with legal regulations and approved technical standards among the entities inspected. The committee's audit of several factories revealed that these establishments adhered fully to the necessary legal and regulatory requirements, with no violations or issues recorded.
However, during the same inspection, the "Ghalia" cooking oil production company was found to be in violation of legal standards. The company failed to include the approved price on sales invoices for products distributed in the local market, breaching consumer protection legislation and financial transparency rules. As a result, the committee ordered the closure of the company.
The Commodity Price Monitoring Committee reiterated its dedication to ongoing inspection tours across different regions to identify and rectify violations that might negatively impact the market or consumers. It stressed its commitment to implementing strict legal measures against offenders to maintain market regulation, control prices, and protect citizens' rights.
