Lusaka: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity participated in a virtual meeting held in Lusaka, Zambia, focused on adopting the medium-term strategic plan for the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) for 2026-2030. The meeting, held on Tuesday, concentrated on finalizing a plan that aims to bolster economic integration among member states, enhance intra-regional trade, develop regional infrastructure, strengthen value chains, and promote financial and investment integration to achieve balanced and sustainable economic growth.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Libyan delegation highlighted the importance of implementing the strategic plan in a manner that considers the interests of all member states. The delegation emphasized enhancing member benefits from technical assistance and capacity-building programs, while ensuring alignment with other relevant continental initiatives.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterated its commitment to continued active participation in COMESA meetings and initiatives. It stressed working to leverage these opportunities to serve national interests and reinforce the trajectory of regional economic integration and cooperation, as stated by the same source.
