Tripoli: China’s representative to the Security Council stressed the need to respect jurisdiction in Libya. China’s representative to the UN Security Council emphasized the importance of respecting Libya’s jurisdiction and maintaining communication regarding the progress of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) investigations in the country.
According to Libyan News Agency, during the ICC briefing on Libya to the Security Council on Tuesday, the Chinese representative advocated for preserving the independence of Libya’s judicial institutions while ensuring open lines of communication with the Libyan authorities. He urged the international community to honor Libya’s sovereignty and support the UN mission’s work without imposing external pressure.
The Chinese representative further stated that ongoing support is crucial to ensuring justice in Libya. He highlighted the necessity for the international community to assist in strengthening the transitional process, maintaining the ceasefire, and fostering an environment conducive to a political settlement.
