Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army meets with US Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya

Tripoli-The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, General Mohamed Al-Haddad, met on Wednesday in Tripoli with US Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, and his accompanying delegation.

The Chief of the General Staff welcomed the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation, praising the efforts of the United States of America in support of Libya at all international forums, demanding that the US work with the international community to limit regional and international interventions.

Al-Haddad stressed keenness to unite the military institution to impose security and stability, and to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people for a civilian state.

For his part, the envoy praised the efforts of the Chief of the General Staff to promote the military institution, and his proposal to form a joint east-west force as a first step towards unifying the military institution, whose task would be to protect and secure the borders. Norland stressed the support of the United States of America for this step, as well as the efforts made to secure the departure of mercenaries and foreign fighters, to achieve the desired stability in Libya, and stressed the position of the United States of America on the need to hold elections to which the Libyan people aspire.
